Lee Thompson and Jamie Smith has been announced as manager and assistant boss, respectively, at Toolstation NCEL Premier Division side Maltby Main.

The club have been searching for a new dugout team following the resignation of previous management duo Lee Whitehead and Andy Dawson.

Thompson and Smith are reunited with new Maltby chairman Kieran Gallagher who they worked under as the managers of Kiveton Miners Welfare last season.

The pair have a wealth of playing experience between them for clubs such as Boston United, Kidderminster Harriers, Worksop Town, Halifax Town, Harrogate Town, Gainsborough Trinity, Sheffield and Ilkeston Town.

Thompson played at England Youth International levels and as a professional player was managed by Neil Warnock at Sheffield United and Steve Evans at Boston United.

In a statement, they said: "This is a massive opportunity for us to continue a partnership that we’ve started recently.

"With Maltby being a top non-league club, we’d like to get the fans in watching.

"We will be working hard to get some exciting signings coming in hopefully and have arranged some very good friendlies.

"We also want to wish Andy and Lee all the best – two top lads."
