Dawson to step down after final

16th May, 2023

Maltby Main manager Andy Dawson has announced that he will be leaving his role after Saturday's County Cup Final against Emley AFC.

The club released a statement on their website from Dawson that read: "Myself and Lee (Whitehead) have managed together for over five years and when he resigned last month I made the decision to stay.

"But, I have now decided to step away from the club following the Sheffield & Hallamshire Senior Cup Final on the 20th of May.

"I’d like to place on record our thanks for the volunteers at the club who have been great during our time there and the players who have played for us throughout the season, some of which I’m sure we will cross paths in the future.

"Hopefully, the final will be a great way to end the season and time at the club."

A club spokesman added: "It goes without saying that all of the people at the club wish to say thank you for all the efforts of the season to both Lee and Andy in what was a very organised and enjoyable season with the cup final still to come.

"They will always be welcome at Muglet Lane any time as our guests and we wish them well in any future role they take on in football."

The Miners say no other statements about the management situation will be put out prior to the final.
