Andy Butler has been confirmed as manager of the Armthorpe Legends team to face an Armthorpe Welfare XI in Steve Garner's testimonial match at the Marra Falcons Stadium this Friday (14th), kick off 7pm.

Butler is a former Doncaster Rovers, Scunthorpe United, Huddersfield Town and Walsall player as well as Doncaster Rovers Belles manager and Doncaster Rovers caretaker manager.

Also now confirmed as featuring in the match is former Sunderland, Doncaster Rovers, Blackburn Rovers and Preston North End forward Chris Brown.

This follows on from Dean Windass' appearance being confirmed last month.

Entry is £10 for all adults and this includes pie and peas, souvenir programme and a raffle ticket and £5 for under 16s which includes a free hot-dog.

All proceeds from the game will be going to W.AT.C.H. (Walking & Talking Charity Hikes) which is a charity organisation set up by retired sportsmen including Mark Crossley, Nigel Jemson and Dean Windass.

In his ten years with Welfare, Garner has made 291 appearances for the club and, but for the aborted seasons due to COVID-19, would have played well over 300 matches which shows incredible loyalty from him to the club.

So, the club are asking everyone to go along and support the match which is raising funds for an amazing cause as well as celebrating Garner's time at Armthorpe Welfare.
