Toolstation NCEL Division One side Selby Town have announced that Ryan Cooper will take over as interim boss of the Robins for the foreseeable future.

It comes after the news that manager Christian Fox and assistant Jonny Bruce had departed the Fairfax Plant Hire Stadium outfit by mutual consent, just days after a 7-1 home loss to Campion on Saturday.

A statement read: "At this time we as a club, would like to go record and offer our sincerest thanks to both Christian and Jonny for their hard work and contributions over the past five seasons and we wish them every success in their future endeavours."

Cooper's first game in temporary charge will be this weekend's Isuzu FA Vase tie at home to league rivals Glasshoughton Welfare.

A further statement from the Robins said: "The aforementioned appointment, we feel was just and had to be implemented swiftly as we begin our endeavours to acquire a suitable successor to the recently departing management team.

"Furthermore, club chairman Steve McGarrity stated his desire for Selby Town Football Club to take the required time necessary to find the suitable candidate for the managerial position and we have every faith in Ryan’s abilities and competence to steer the club in the meantime.

"Irrespective of the time frame to come, we offer our full support and gratitude to Ryan for stepping in when called upon."
