Veteran keeper ready for charity run

17th July, 2022

Selby Town keeper Jody Barford is preparing to take part in another Great North Run later this year to raise money for the Cardiac Risk in the Young charity.

The veteran shot-stopper has taken part in the race for a number of years in memory of his mum, Linda.

And, he is getting ready to run the half-marathon again on Sunday 11th September, 2022, the day after he could have played a game in Toolstation NCEL Division One for the Robins.

He explains on his JustGiving page why he chose the charity that he is raising money for: "Every week in the UK, at least twelve apparently fit and healthy young people die of undiagnosed cardiac conditions.

"With your donation, CRY can reduce the frequency of young sudden cardiac death (YSCD) by working with cardiologists and family doctors to establish good practice and appropriate screening facilities to promote and protect the cardiac health of our young.

"By supporting CRY you will help save young lives from these potentially fatal cardiac conditions.

"See how your support can help by visiting www.c-r-y.org.uk."

You can find out more and donate by going to Jody's JustGiving page (click here) and we wish him all the best in the race.
