Charter Standard for Rossington
24th September, 2012
Rossington Main have become the latest Baris NCEL club to achieve Adult Club Status in the FA Charter Standard scheme.
The FA Charter Standard Club Programme was established by the FA in February 2001 with the aim to provide recognition that clubs are well run, sustainable, with child protection and safety at the forefront.
There is also a recognition of a club's commitment to coaching, player and coach development and also the raising of standards of behaviour in the game.
A Main spokesperson said: "The journey to get to this level for Rossington started over two years ago with secretary Ged Parsons, manager at the time Ian Wilson and former assistant Rob Burton all looking into the various stages of the process.
"It has been a long journey with many obstacles to overcome and many procedures and processes to put in place but, finally, we can proudly say that we are part of the Charter Standard community."
Parsons received official notification last week and, before their recent game versus Grimsby Borough, club photographer Pete Murden took the opportunity to get several pictures of Ged (below right) and president Gerry Murden with the prestigious award and certificate.
"This FA Charter Standard Club award will help us promote a better image of the club, and at the same time giving us another route to previously unavailable and much-needed funds for the club," the spokesperson added.
"It does not stop there though as this award is subject to an annual health check meaning that Rossington Main will be required to make sure that all processes and procedures that have been put in place to achieve this standard are kept in place and improved upon year on year."
The Baris NCEL last season became a Charter Standard League as part of its commitment to improve the game both on and off-the-pitch at this level of the National League System.
As part of that, all member clubs are required to achieve Charter Standard status.
