Winterton Rangers have been promoted to Step 4 of the National League System for the first time in their history after a fantastic 2-1 win at Coggeshall Town on Saturday.

The Toolstation NCEL Premier Division side were handed a long trip to Essex in the Step 4/5 Inter-Step Play-Offs but the journey back from their Pitching In Isthmian League hosts would have been an extremely joyous one.

The game was goalless until the 79th minute when a quickfire double for Josh Walker, taking his tally for the season to 32 goals, put Rangers in full control.

Coggeshall halved the deficit with a penalty in injury time but Winterton held on to secure a much-deserved promotion and all at the NCEL congratulate them on their success and wish them well at the higher level.

A massive well done also to Campion who, on Friday night, added the West Riding County Cup to their Division One championship to cap an excellent season for the Red and Blacks.

They lifted the trophy for the first time courtesy of a 2-1 win at Liversedge, Patrick Sykes and Aidan Day netting for them after their hosts had taken the lead in the 50th minute.

Meanwhile, the Premier Division season came to an end on Tuesday with a 4-1 home victory for Barton Town over Emley AFC.

A Benjamin Hinchliffe double was added to by Thomas Waudby and Grant Tait for the Swans who end the campaign in seventh spot whilst Edward Dry netted for the third-placed Pewits.

Two games remain with Winterton quickly back in action on Tuesday night as they face Golcar United in the League Cup Final at Doncaster Rovers' Eco-Power Stadium.

Then, it is an all-NCEL affair at the same venue in the Sheffield & Hallamshire Senior Cup Final as Maltby Main take on Emley in three weeks' time.
