Toolstation NCEL Match Review 2022/23 #47

2nd February, 2023

Penistone Church and Emley AFC both missed out on a chance to move into the top three of the Toolstation NCEL Premier Division as they fell to defeats in midweek.

Ryan Johnson grabbed a late consolation for Church after Frankie Sinfield and Thomas Greaves had netted for hosts Thackley in the final quarter of the match to move their side up to twelfth in the table with a 2-1 victory.

Meanwhile, James Hampson scored the only goal of the game as Knaresborough Town won at Emley and they climb to eighth.

Penistone and Emley stay fourth and fifth, respectively, four and six points behind second-placed Winterton Rangers in the chase for promotion.

In Division One, Wakefield AFC jump up into the play-off zone as they strolled to a 5-0 home victory over Ollerton Town.

Kieran Ceesay scored in the opening seconds of each half before Lewis Stephens' hat-trick secured the three points that sees them go up two places in the table to fourth.

In County Cup action, Albion Sports produced a fantastic 2-0 home win over Farsley Celtic to reach the Semi-Finals of the West Riding County Cup.

The goals came courtesy of Hass Gorji and Aran Basi as the Lions defeated their Vanarama National League North visitors.

Booth's second came in stoppage time just as it looked as though they would bow out but Ian Walker's side went through, thanks to a 3-2 win in the penalty shoot-out.

Defending champions Brigg Town went out of the Lincolnshire Senior Trophy in the Semi-Finals as, after taking the leading in the 22nd minute through Joshua Batty, they were beaten 3-1 at home by Boston Town.
