Toolstation NCEL Match Review 2022/23 #27

6th November, 2022

Both North Ferriby and Campion picked up home victories on Saturday to keep their cast iron grip on the summit in the Toolstation NCEL Premier Division and Division One, respectively.

Ferriby had to overcome a determined challenge from their visitors Thackley, Joshua Whiteley with their 80th minute winner after Thomas Greaves had cancelled out their opener from Danny Clarke.

The 2-1 victory keeps the Villagers five points clear of second-placed Emley AFC who have stretched their unbeaten run to fourteen games.

James Walshaw's double and a 21st goal of the season for Joe Jagger secured for the Pewits a 3-0 win at Winterton Rangers who drop to sixth.

Garforth Town move into third spot after their 4-0 defeat of hosts Penistone Church, James Burgess striking twice whilst there was one each for Daniel Coupland and Sam Barker as the Miners continue their surge up the table.

They go above Barton Town who were held to a goalless draw by visitors Handsworth whilst Silsden AFC are up to fifth after their 4-0 win at next-to-bottom Goole AFC.

Antony Brown's penalty was added to by Lewis Gardner before the interval before second half goals from Joseph Crosby and Alexander Stewart confirmed the victory for the Cobbydalers.

Late drama grabbed a point for Hemsworth Miners Welfare just seconds after it looked as though they were going to fall to a home defeat against Eccleshill United.

Andrew Cooper put the visiting Eagles 2-1 up in the 89th minute but Harry Viggars made sure the spoils were shared with an injury-time equaliser in a 2-2 draw.

Albion Sports produced a ruthless second-half display to dispatch hosts Yorkshire Amateur who remain in the basement with all of the Lions' goals in a 6-0 victory coming after the break.

Zak Khan added polish to the scoreline with a late double after Hass Gorji, Awais Khan, Thomas Ponter and Adam Williams had put the result beyond doubt by the 70th minute.

The Ammers are now seven points away from safety as Bottesford Town picked up a priceless 2-1 win at Maltby Main, Declan Bacon and Joshua Nichol securing the victory after an early opener for the hosts from Frederick Tracey.

Brett Agnew's double helped Hallam to a 3-1 home win over Frickley Athletic whilst, in Friday night's game, Benjamin Parkes' injury-time header snatched Knaresborough Town a 2-1 victory against visitors Golcar United.

Campion's fourteenth straight victory was their biggest of the season as an 8-0 home win over Shirebrook Town stretched their advantage at the top of Division One to eight points.

Marcus Day's hat-trick takes his season's tally to twenty, Ashley Flynn netted twice and there were also goals for Patrick Sykes, Daniel Keane and Robbie Graham as they kept up their perfect record on their own patch.

Second-placed Horbury Town were the only side in the top eight not to win as they were beaten 3-2 at home by Staveley Miners Welfare, Archie White with the winner for the Trojans deep in stoppage time.

The only movement in the table saw Selby Town climb above Ollerton Town into fourteenth spot after their 2-2 home draw with Athersley Recreation.

Liam Flanagan netted both of the Robins' goals after Cole Patrick and Ethan Nixon had twice put the visitors ahead.

Ollerton, meanwhile, went down to a single goal at home to fourth-placed Harrogate Railway Athletic, Albert Ibrahimi pouncing in the 48th minute in a tight game at the FastFrame.

Rossington Main stay third after their 3-0 triumph over visitors Worsbrough Bridge Athletic, courtesy of Ross Hannah, Tyla Bell and Monosse Kianga.

Brigg Town and Wakefield AFC were also victorious to remain fifth and sixth, respectively.

A Scott Phillips penalty and a Joshua Batty strike helped Brigg to a 2-1 win at home to Swallownest whilst a hat-trick for Billy Mole and an Owen Kirman double saw Wakefield canter to a 5-1 defeat of hosts Beverley Town.

Two goals in three minutes from Liam Bennett and Oliver Lobley secured a 2-1 home win for Retford FC versus Armthorpe Welfare to keep the Choughs in seventh above Staveley.

New signing Joshua Nodder scored both of Parkgate's goals on his debut in their 2-1 win at Dronfield Town and, although the Steelmen remain at the foot of the table, they have reduced the gap to safety to five points.

And, Aaron Gray's 65th minute equaliser ensured a 2-2 draw for next-to-bottom Glasshoughton Welfare at Nostell Miners Welfare.
