Baris NCEL Match Review #64
4th April, 2013
Scarborough Athletic have moved six points clear at the top of the Baris NCEL Premier Division after a 2-1 home victory over Barton Town Old Boys in midweek.
Craig Suddaby's own goal in the first half followed by a Tony Hackworth strike on 63 minutes secured the three points for Rudy Funk's side, although it got nervy towards the end for the Seadogs when Simon Spencer pulled one back for the visitors.
Bottom club Arnold Town continued to show their battling spirit with a 1-1 draw at home to Thackley.
The Eagles had gone behind towards the end of the first period through Luke Hudson's opener but Simon Wilkinson popped up with ten minutes remaining to share the spoils.
Matthew Bugg claimed a hat-trick whilst Adam Jarrett and Gibril Bojang got two each in Liversedge's 8-1 home annihilation of Staveley Miners Welfare.
Long Eaton United won 4-0 at Maltby Main with braces each for Matt Savage and Shaun Rickford.
And, Heanor Town came from behind twice to get a point at Pickering Town, Tom Cooper-Richards and Stef Frost with the strikes after Joe Danby and then Liam Salt from the penalty spot had given the Pikes the lead, all in the opening 26 minutes.
Albion Sports strengthened their grip on a top two spot in Division One after a 6-0 home win over Dinnington Town, Daniel Facey with two of their goals to put them three points behind leaders Athersley Recreation.
And, they are now five points clear of third-placed Cleethorpes Town who drew 3-3 at home to AFC Emley.
The scores were level at 2-2 by the interval before Luke Mascall had seemingly given the home side all three points with his strike on 72 minutes but it was quickly cancelled out by Joshua Cooke.
Shirebrook Town lost a little ground in the promotion chase as they were beaten 2-1 at Worsbrough Bridge Athletic on Monday.
Lee Garside and Ryan Laight had the hosts two-up after twenty minutes and, even though Conor Higginson netted for Shirebrook in first half stoppage time, the home side kept their nerve to take the victory.
Worsbrough are eighth after their second midweek game on Wednesday night saw them lose 2-0 at Eccleshill United, Marcus Edwards and Victor Balis with their second-half goals.
Selby Town continued their climb away from the relegation zone as Daniel Gray and Danny Snaith scored in their 2-1 win over visitors Bottesford Town.
Louth Town won 2-0 at Hemsworth Miners Welfare whilst Clipstone Welfare drew 2-2 at home with Appleby Frodingham.
And, Nostell Miners Welfare and Worksop Parramore are through to the Semi-Finals of the League Cup.
Graham Marchant's penalty saw Nostell triumph 1-0 at Tadcaster Albion and they will now be at home to Louth.
Lee Holmes struck twice in the final quarter of their game at home to Parkgate for a 2-0 victory and they will now go to either Thackley, Long Eaton or Scarborough.
