Baris NCEL Match Review #60
21st March, 2013
Albion Sports have moved up into second spot in the Baris NCEL Division One table after a 5-2 home win over Hemsworth Miners Welfare in midweek.
The Lions were a goal down by the interval after Dean Sidebottom's 20th minute penalty had broken the deadlock for the visitors.
But, Sports took control of the second period with Karl Hall netting their first, Alex Cusack claiming a brace, and Liam Ormsby and Kayden Jackson adding to the scoreline to give them a 5-1 lead going into the last eight minutes.
Damon Cassell then got a late second for Hemsworth who remain in the top half of the table after Clipstone Welfare's 4-2 home loss to resurgent Selby Town.
Daniel Gray's hat-trick and a fourth from Jack Wooley gave the Robins the win that sees them climb out of the bottom three whilst Peter Stubley scored twice in the last fifteen minutes to give the home side some cheer.
In another midweek hit by bad weather, only one Premier Division game was played and that ended as a 2-2 draw between Worksop Parramore and relegation-threatened Winterton Rangers.
Simon Barraclough put the hosts ahead on 11 minutes before parity was restored early in the second period from Tom Finnigan.
It looked as though Rangers were going to get three vital points on their travels when Rikki Paylor put them ahead with eight minutes to go but Ashley Foyle made sure the spoils were shared.
There was an extraordinary game in the Third Round of the League Cup as Parkgate won a ten-goal thriller after being 3-0 down at Armthorpe Welfare.
Two penalties were scored in the opening ten minutes by Steven Garner to put the home side in control and James Walker made it three soon after.
Jamie Smith and Craig Fletcher then found the net for Parkgate as the goal scoring continued to make it 3-2 in 24 minutes and Leo-Fortune West got Armthorpe's fourth before the half-hour.
But, the second half saw the game turn completely on his head as Jamie Smith scored twice to complete his hat-trick whilst Sam Smith and Tom Roebuck also got on the scoresheet in the 6-4 victory to set up a last-eight clash at Worksop Parramore.
They are joined in the Quarter-Finals by Nostell Miners Welfare, who won 3-2 at home to Dinnington Town, courtesy of a Danny Critchlow hat-trick, and they will now go to Tadcaster Albion.
Bridlington Town missed out on a place in the East Riding Senior Cup Final, losing 3-1 to North Ferriby United in a game played at the Roy West Centre in Hull.
AFC Emley bowed out of the Sheffield & Hallamshire Senior Cup at the Quarter-Final stage but put in a battling performance at home to Evo-Stik League side Stocksbridge Park Steels.
They were beaten 2-1 by a winner for the visitors in the last minute of extra-time to deny them a penalty shoot-out that they richly deserved.
And, two goals in the last four minutes by Ryan Damms saw Staveley Miners Welfare overcome a determined Rossington Main, 2-0, to progress to the final four.
