21st February, 2013
Brighouse Town got their Baris NCEL Premier Division title challenge back on track with a 3-0 victory at home to Heanor Town in midweek.
Nick Jagger and James Hurtley netted in the first half and the tally was added to in the 52nd minute by the league's top scorer Tom Matthews to move them back up into second spot, two points behind leaders Scarborough Athletic.
It is now increasingly looking like a three horse race for the crown after Worksop Parramore and Tadcaster Albion dropped points.
Parramore drew 1-1 at home to Maltby Main after Lee Whittington's 65th minute penalty was cancelled out almost immediately by Brian Cusworth for the visitors.
Tadcaster, meanwhile, were beaten 2-1 at Nostell Miners Welfare having conceded almost straight from the kick-off through Glen O'Gara.
Callum Ward levelled on the quarter-of-an-hour mark but Danny Critchlow got the home side's winner on 67 minutes.
Thackley have moved up into the top six after a 3-2 victory over visitors Liversedge, Jordan Missin, James Firth and Nicky Matthews with their goals.
Hall Road Rangers remain bottom despite picking up a point in a 1-1 draw at Lincoln Moorlands Railway, James Gemmill equalising for them at the end of the first half after Kevin Lusamba had put the hosts ahead.
Liam Corrigan netted twice for relegation-threatened Arnold Town but the Eagles went down 4-2 at near neighbours Long Eaton United, Matt Savage's double and further goals from Michael Armstrong and Shaun Rickford for the home side.
Glasshoughton Welfare, meanwhile, were 4-2 winners at Parkgate.
Athersley Recreation have returned to the top of Division One after Jason Bentley and Lee Bennett secured a 2-0 home win over Louth Town.
Knaresborough Town are two points behind them in third after they beat visitors Clipstone Welfare by the same scoreline, Craig Heard and Steve Bromley striking in the opening 24 minutes.
But, Cleethorpes Town and Teversal both lost on their travels to suffer a blow to their promotion hopes.
Darren Hanslip scored in injury time for Cleethorpes at Pontefract Collieries but they went down 2-1, courtesy of a Nathan Perks brace.
Teversal missed out on a point at Eccleshill United with Marcus Edwards scoring all the home side's goals in their 4-3 victory, the final strike coming deep in stoppage time.
Neil Towler's hat-trick helped Hemsworth Miners Welfare to a 4-0 win at struggling Askern Villa whilst Grimsby Borough beat hosts Dinnington Town, 2-0, with both of their goals coming from John Waugh.
Shirebrook Town have become the first team to reach the League Cup Quarter-Finals after the Division One side's 3-1 home win over Premier Division outfit, Staveley Miners Welfare.
Daniel Williams, Jordan Lemon and Kyle Jordan made sure of the victory before a late consolation from Ryan Damms for the visitors.
Chris Garth's 39th-minute strike was enough to send Bottesford Town into the Final of the Lincolnshire Senior Trophy, winning 1-0 at league rivals Barton Town Old Boys.
Pickering Town are through to the Semi-Finals of the North Riding Senior Cup after Liam Salt and Joe Danby guided them to a 2-0 win against Grangetown Boys Club.
But, Retford United are out of the Notts Senior Cup, losing their Third Round tie with Clifton All Whites on penalties after the game finished 1-1 after extra time.
