Baris NCEL Match Review #47
4th February, 2013
AFC Emley bowed out of the FA Carlsberg Vase at the Fourth Round stage on Saturday with a narrow 1-0 home defeat to Hadleigh United.
Marcus Josiah's strike in the second minute was enough for the Eastern Counties League side and Emley's departure means that the Baris NCEL's participation in the competition has come to an end for this season.
The chase for the Premier Division title got even tighter as Chris Hirst's 89th minute equaliser for Liversedge saw Scarborough Athletic draw 2-2 on their travels.
That was after Tom Adams and Jimmy Beadle had seemingly given Rudy Funk's side the victory.
Brighouse Town have moved to within a point of the Seadogs as Ryan Hall's brace, sandwiching a James Hurtley strike, led to a 3-0 victory at bottom side, Winterton Rangers.
And, four goals in the last nineteen minutes for Bridlington Town saw them cut their gap with the leaders to four points.
Kyle Hadley had given visitors Retford United a first-half lead and that is how it stayed until Billy Logan levelled on 71 minutes.
Scott Phillips put the hosts ahead with a penalty before Retford made it 2-2 with Hadley's second.
But, Phillips struck again and Craig Hogg hit in injury-time to ensure a 4-2 win for the Seasiders.
The other two sides in the top five, Worksop Parramore and Barton Town Old Boys were also winners.
Jamie Green, Lee Holmes and Matty Thorpe all netted for Parramore in their 3-0 home victory over Thackley whilst Barton won by the same scoreline at Glasshoughton Welfare, Ryan Cooper, Gareth Barlow and Declan Marshall with their goals.
None of the bottom seven in the Premier Division who played managed to pick up a point with Armthorpe Welfare, Nostell Miners Welfare, Lincoln Moorlands Railway and Hall Road Rangers joining Glasshoughton and Winterton in tasting defeat.
Armthorpe were beaten 2-1 at Parkgate with Adam Shepherd getting the 83rd minute winner, Nostell lost 3-0 at Maltby Main whilst Moorlands were beaten 4-1 at Heanor Town and Hall Road went down 2-0 at Long Eaton United.
Division One leaders Athersley Recreation went down to a surprise 3-2 defeat at Appleby Frodingham, a victory that moved the hosts out of the bottom four.
The scores were level at the interval after Alex Schofield's opener for the home side was cancelled out by Kieron Scargill.
But, two goals in a minute from Schofield and Nathan Watson put App-Frod in control and, even though Jason Bentley pulled one back for Athersley, the home side picked up all three vital points.
A Tom Mullen brace saw Shirebrook Town win 2-0 at home to Hemsworth Miners Welfare to move the Langwith Road side up into second, a point off the top but having played two games more.
They went above Albion Sports who lost 1-0 at Hallam, courtesy of Jonathan Wragg's 84th minute winner, and Cleethorpes Town whose game was called off due to a waterlogged pitch.
Yorkshire Amateur and Askern Villa's attempts to stay away from the bottom two suffered a blow as both tasted defeat.
A Steve Lyon double saw the Ammers lose 2-0 at home to Pontefract Collieries whilst Villa went down 3-1 at Dinnington Town.
Jamie Goodacre got both of Teversal's goals in their 2-0 victory at local rivals Clipstone Welfare whilst Paul Goodhand's first half injury time penalty was enough for Louth Town in their 1-0 win at Rossington Main.
And, it was a point apiece at Park Road as Worsbrough Bridge Athletic drew 2-2 with visitors Bottesford Town.
