Scarborough Athletic have opened the gap at the summit of the Baris NCEL Premier Division to four points after they won the top-of-the-table clash with Bridlington Town on Boxing Day.950 people watched their 2-1 victory at the Neil Hudgell Law Stadium at the expense of their landlords, Oliver Banks getting both of their goals - one in each half - before Josh Greening pulled one back for the Seasiders on 67 minutes.
It was one of only six Premier Division matches to survive the bad weather with
Brighouse Town the only other side to win at home.
Tom Matthews' 70th minute penalty and an injury time strike from Ernest Boafo made sure of a 2-0 victory over
Liversedge to keep them in the title chase in third spot.
Tadcaster Albion beat hosts
Hall Road Rangers 3-0 with goals from Ryan Qualter, Josh Barrett and Daniel Barrett to move the Brewers up into sixth position.
Two second-half goals from Mark Bett ensured
Thackley won 3-1 at
Nostell Miners Welfare to stay eighth in the table, despite going behind in the opening minute from a Danny Critchlow strike.
Pickering Town were 2-0 victors at
Glasshoughton Welfare whilst it was a 2-1 scoreline for
Armthorpe Welfare at
Lincoln Moorlands Railway.
Athersley Recreation are now five points clear at the top of Division One after a 1-1 draw at
Worsbrough Bridge Athletic, Jason Bentley's early strike cancelled out late on for the hosts by Chris White.
Third-placed
Cleethorpes Town were 5-2 home winners over
Grimsby Borough on Thursday night in a local derby watched by a crowd of 373.
The home side were two goals ahead by the half-hour mark through Tim Lowe and Marc Cooper before Josh Fuller pulled one back for Borough before the interval and Steve Davies equalised early in the second half.
But, Jack Debnam quickly restored Cleethorpes' lead and Jack Richardson and Lee McFarland ensured the victory with goals in the last five minutes.
The remaining Division One games were all played on Boxing Day and
Shirebrook Town are up to fourth after Jack Barnett's double saw them draw 2-2 at
Teversal with the home side levelling in injury time through Mitchell Slawson.
Just behind them are
AFC Emley who won 1-0 at
Hemsworth Miners Welfare, courtesy of a 68th minute Ashley Flynn penalty.
Danny Boulton scored a hat-trick but his
Bottesford Town side were held to a 4-4 home draw by next-to-bottom
Appleby Frodingham.
Rossington Main won 3-1 at
Askern Villa whilst
Clipstone Welfare were 2-1 victors over visitors
Louth Town and two goals from Adam Shaw helped
Yorkshire Amateur to a 3-2 home triumph over
Knaresborough Town.
