Baris NCEL Match Review #39
23rd December, 2012
Scarborough Athletic and Athersley Recreation will be the Baris NCEL's division leaders going into Christmas and what promises to be an enthralling second half to the season.
Scarborough went above Bridlington Town to the summit of the Premier Division as their home game with Maltby Main was one of only two games to beat the bad weather on Saturday.
Tom Adams put them ahead after just six minutes but they had to wait until the start of the second half before they put the match beyond their visitors' grasp.
Tony Hackworth and Ryan Blott found the net to give them a three goal advantage by the hour mark.
Blott then got his second in stoppage time to claim a 4-0 victory over Main who will go into the festive season in fifteenth spot.
The other match played was in Division One where Louth Town and Bottesford Town shared the points in a six-goal thriller at Park Avenue.
All the goals came in the second period with Louth taking a quickfire two goal lead by the 49th minute, courtesy of strikes from Paul Goodhand and Nick Manders.
But, Bottesford turned it round with three goals in sixteen minutes from Dayle Hutson, Danny Boulton and Carl La Rocca.
A Goodhand penalty six minutes from time, however, ensured the clash finished 3-3.
Louth remain sixth in the table whilst Bottesford stay fourteenth.
