Baris NCEL 2012/13 Match Review #38

16th December, 2012

Parkgate were unable to become the third Baris NCEL team to get through to the Fourth Round of the FA Carlsberg Vase as they were beaten 3-1 at Shildon on Saturday.

Martyn Lee had given the Steelmen an eighth minute lead but three goals in thirteen second-half minutes meant that their participation in the tournament came to an end at the last 64 stage.

Bridlington Town missed out on a chance to extend their lead at the top of the Premier Division to five points as they went down 3-1 at Pickering Town who climb to twelfth after their victory.

Josh Greening broke the deadlock for the visitors just before the interval but Joel Ramm levelled soon after the break and Tom Reid and Joe Danby made sure of the win with goals in the last eighteen minutes.

Third-placed Brighouse Town are now just three points behind the Seasiders after James Hurtley's opener and a brace from Tom Matthews earned them a 3-0 home victory over Nostell Miners Welfare.

Three goals in the first half from Nathan Forbes-Swindells, Jason Mycoe and Andrew Fox saw Staveley Miners Welfare move up into the top four with a win by the same scoreline over visitors Barton Town Old Boys.

Retford United came from behind to win 3-1 at home to Long Eaton United and are now in the top ten.

Matthauis Gausmann cancelled out Kial Thurman's early opener on 24 minutes and Adam Scott ensured the Badgers were ahead by half-time before Richard Medcalf wrapped up the points with virtually the last kick of the game.

Heanor Town are tenth after a 6-1 win at next-to-bottom Winterton Rangers with Nathan Benger and Stef Frost getting two each whilst Neil Grayson and Jason Foster also found the net.

A Steven Garner penalty and a Richard Smith strike in the last two minutes saw Armthorpe Welfare sneak a 2-1 home victory over Liversedge, Carl Fothergill got a hat-trick in Glasshoughton Welfare's 4-2 win against Hall Road Rangers at Leeds Road and Maltby Main defeated visitors Thackley, 2-0.

Six games survived the weather in Division One with none of the top three in action.

Knaresborough Town are up to fourth, seven points off first spot, with their 3-1 home win against Appleby Frodingham and they are just ahead of Shirebrook Town who beat Askern Villa 5-0 at Langwith Road, Jason Bradley with a hat-trick for Mark Shaw's side.

There were home wins for Clipstone Welfare and Grimsby Borough, Clipstone beating Worbsrough Bridge Athletic 3-1 with two goals in the last three minutes whilst Borough had William Sinclair to thank for his 85th minute winner in their 3-2 victory over Yorkshire Amateur.

Steve Tierney struck in injury time to earn a point for Pontefract Collieries, 3-3 at Rossington Main, whilst it finished 1-1 at Carnarvon Street between Teversal and Hallam.
