Baris NCEL 2012/13 Match Review #33
25th November, 2012
Bridlington Town remain the leaders of the Baris NCEL Premier Division table despite being the only side in the top four not to win on Saturday.
A 1-1 draw at Long Eaton United means the gap has been closed to one point with all the chasing pack coming back to within touching distance.
Billy Logan had given the Seasiders the lead on the hour mark but Shay Wiggins' equaliser three minutes from time ensured they came away from Grange Park all square.
Second-placed Brighouse Town continue to be the surprise package as they won 4-0 at near neighbours Liversedge, Danny Nadiole with two of their goals whilst Ryan Hall and James Hurtley also got on the scoresheet.
Two goals from Ryan Blott helped Scarborough Athletic to a 3-1 home win over Arnold Town and the Seadogs are now just two points behind their landlords.
Worksop Parramore were 2-1 winners at bottom side Winterton Rangers to remain in fourth spot, Tom Roebuck and Scott Bates with their goals, sandwiching Blake Freeman's strike for the hosts.
The other two sides in the top six were not in action, Tadcaster Albion's game at Nostell Miners Welfare was cancelled due to boiler problems whilst a waterlogged pitch put paid to Barton Town Old Boys' home clash with Retford United.
Seventh spot remains in the hands of Staveley Miners Welfare who won 2-0 at Hall Road Rangers, courtesy of a goal in each half from Richard Patterson and Joe Thornton.
A Matthew Mathers hat-trick saw Thackley climb into the top eight as they defeated visitors Armthorpe Welfare, 3-0.
Maltby Main and Pickering Town were also winners at home by the same scoreline, Main beating next-to-bottom Lincoln Moorlands Railway at Muglet Lane whilst the Pikes overcame Glasshoughton Welfare.
And, a Jordan Hall strike eight minutes from time saw Heanor Town take all three points in a rollercoaster game at home to Parkgate where both sides had the lead before the Lions took the victory.
Athersley Recreation remain four points clear at the top of Division One after a Jason Bentley brace helped them to a 3-0 victory at Pontefract Collieries, the only side in the top eight to lose.
Two goals each from Jack Debnam and Richard Belding ensured that second-placed Cleethorpes Town remained in touch with a 4-2 home win over Clipstone Welfare, Adam Somes with the double for the Cobras.
Albion Sports are up into third after a 1-0 victory over visitors Bottesford Town, Charlie Flaherty with their goal on 66 minutes, whilst Louth Town and AFC Emley climbed into the top five with comfortable wins.
Louth went behind in the first minute at home to Hemsworth Miners Welfare but Matt Kennedy and Elliot Broughton both found the net twice as they went on to a 5-1 victory.
And, Ashley Flynn was a four-goal hero for Emley who were 8-1 winners at Yorkshire Amateur with five of their goals coming in the last ten minutes.
Knaresborough Town are now sixth following their 4-1 home victory over Grimsby Borough whilst Rossington Main were 2-1 winners at Appleby Frodingham.
Victor Balis struck in the 89th minute for Eccleshill United to draw 1-1 at Hallam whilst Shirebrook Town left it even later to get a point from their home local derby with Teversal, Tom Mullen with his second of the afternoon in injury time as it finished 2-2.
Bottom side Selby Town's on-pitch woes were added to off-the-field as their home game with Askern Villa was called off after metal thieves struck at the Rigid Group Stadium in midweek whilst the weather was the winner at Worsbrough Bridge Athletic as their match with Dinnington Town was also postponed.
