Baris NCEL 2012/13 Match Review #28

8th November, 2012

Substitute goalkeeper Paul Fraser got on the scoresheet for Bridlington Town as they won 7-0 at Heanor Town in midweek to become the first side to progress into the Third Round of the Baris NCEL League Cup.

He had come on in place of injured striker Craig Hogg and showed his attacking credentials by scoring the final goal as the game went into stoppage time.

Earlier, Josh Greening had given them a 1-0 lead by the interval and the second half fully belonged to the Seasiders with Billy Logan and Hogg both scoring twice whilst Nathan Cook also got on the scoresheet.

In the Premier Division, Brighouse Town moved up to third in the table with a 3-0 home victory over Long Eaton United.

Tom Matthews took his season's tally to 21 with two goals, one in each half sandwiching a strike from Nick Jagger.

Thackley and Tadcaster Albion played out a 1-1 draw at Dennyfield, Chris Kamara's goal at the start of the second half for the Brewers cancelling out Jordan Missin's 37th minute opener for the home side.

Shirebrook Town have climbed into fifth spot in Division One after Tom Rowbotham and Carlos Forbes earned them a 2-1 victory at local rivals Clipstone Welfare.

Two goals from Rob Orton helped Teversal to a 3-1 win at Bottesford Town and those three points moved the Carnarvon Street side up into eighth.

Eccleshill United were 4-0 home victors over Appleby Frodingham with Marcus Edwards getting a hat-trick whilst a 75th minute goal from Charlie Flaherty saw Albion Sports win by a single goal at the expense of visitors Grimsby Borough.

There were seven games involving Baris NCEL sides in the Sheffield & Hallamshire Senior Cup Second Round.

An injury-time winner from Niall Doyle saw Rossington Main from Division One beat Premier Division hosts Parkgate, 2-1, whilst Athersley Recreation were also giantkillers as they defeated visitors Nostell Miners Welfare, 4-1, with Adam White getting a brace.

The other all-NCEL affair was a seven goal thriller which AFC Emley eventually came out from as 4-3 winners to produce another upset at home to Maltby Main, thanks to two goals each from Ashley Flynn and Antony Leech.

Worsbrough Bridge Athletic were 2-1 winners against Kinsley Boys in a match that was switched to the Sheffield and Hallamshire County Senior League side's ground due to a waterlogged pitch at Park Road.

Staveley Miners Welfare won 2-0 against Frecheville CA at Inkersall Road but Hemsworth Miners Welfare and Worksop Parramore bowed out at home to higher ranked opposition, Sheffield and Stocksbridge Park Steels, respectively.

Barton Town Old Boys beat hosts Cleethorpes Town 4-1 in the Quarter-Finals of the Lincolnshire Senior Trophy with three goals in the last eighteen minutes from Alex Sherwood Gareth Owen and Josh Schofield.

And, a Joel Freeston hat-trick saw Knaresborough Town through in the Second Round of the West Riding County Cup, 3-0 at Silsden.
