Baris NCEL 2012/13 Match Review #20

11th October, 2012

Scarborough Athletic have moved to within two points of Baris NCEL Premier Division leaders Bridlington Town with a 1-1 draw at Barton Town Old Boys in midweek.

Ryan Blott got the Seadogs an injury time equaliser after Josh Schofield had put the home side, who climb to fifth with their point, ahead on 82 minutes.

Retford United are now eighth after they beat hosts Winterton Rangers 4-1 with goals from Danny Frost, Steve Phillips, Liam Wilkin and Bobby Johnson.

Ryan Williams' 39th minute strike was enough for Tadcaster Albion in their single goal home win over Armthorpe Welfare to leave the Brewers in the top ten after the midweek action.

John Douglas struck in stoppage time to earn Glasshoughton Welfare a point in a 2-2 draw at Liversedge.

And, the match between Hall Road Rangers and Heanor Town was abandoned after 86 minutes due to floodlight failure with the score at 3-1 to the home side.

Appleby Frodingham are no longer bottom of the Division One table as a Chris McDonald brace and a late goal from Oliver Bradbury claimed a 3-1 home victory over Knaresborough Town.

Two goals each from Brandon Roane and Jae Lee helped Eccleshill United beat visitors Askern Villa, 5-2, whilst a triple strike in the opening 21 minutes saw Yorkshire Amateur triumph 3-1 at home to Grimsby Borough.

Craig Heard, Dominic Noteman and Kaydon Fishley put them on their way to three points before Jake Thompson got a second half consolation for Borough.

Elsewhere, the focus was on County Cups with eleven matches in the First Round of the Sheffield & Hallamshire Senior Cup involving NCEL sides.

There was disappointment for Dinnington Town as they lost by a single goal at home to Frecheville CA whilst Hallam went down bravely, 3-2, at Sheffield.

Top scorers were AFC Emley who, thanks in part to an Anthony Haigh hat-trick, defeated visitors Phoenix, 9-2.

James Eyles struck four as Nostell Miners Welfare were 5-2 winners at home to Brodsworth Welfare whilst Worsbrough Bridge Athletic progressed, 2-0, at Penistone Church.

Parkgate, Worksop Parramore and Rossington Main went through with 4-1 victories on home soil against Mexborough Town, Harworth Colliery Institute and Kiveton Park, respectively.

Hemsworth Miners Welfare won 2-1 at home to Houghton Main, Andrew Hayward with both goals, whilst Athersley Recreation were 2-0 winners over visitors Shaw Lane Aquaforce.

And, Maltby Main needed extra-time to progress 3-2 at home to Handsworth.

Teversal were 2-0 up at Radcliffe Olympic in the Notts Senior Cup but were pegged back by the hosts before finally going through 4-3 after extra time with Danny Swales getting the winner.

And, Shirebrook Town went through in the Derbyshire Senior Cup 5-3 on penalties at home to Gamesley when the game ended goalless after 120 minutes of football.
