7th October, 2012
The last Baris NCEL team left standing in the FA Cup with Budweiser bowed out on Saturday at the Third Qualifying Round stage but they did not leave the competition without a fight.
Tadcaster Albion pushed Blue Square Bet North visitors Boston United all the way but in the end were beaten 2-0, thanks to second-half goals from Mark Jones and Mark Newsham.
Bridlington Town opened up a three-point gap at the top of the Premier Division after Chris Batchelor's 75th minute strike earned them their tenth straight win, 1-0 at home to Maltby Main.
Second-placed Scarborough Athletic lost ground as they went down 3-2 at local rivals Pickering Town despite taking a two goal lead after just thirteen minutes, James Bennett and Ryan Blott seemingly putting the Seadogs on their way.
But, in front of the season's highest league crowd of 648, Liam Salt and Liam Shepherd had the Pikes level by the interval before Shepherd got his second and the winner just before the hour mark.
Worksop Parramore, who are third, also lost on their travels as a first-half Michael Armstrong penalty and a Matt Savage strike on 74 minutes condemned them to a 2-0 defeat at fifth-placed Long Eaton United.
Brighouse Town kept fourth spot and closed the gap on the top three with Tom Matthews' strike claiming a 1-0 home victory over Staveley Miners Welfare.
Barton Town Old Boys complete the top six after they won 1-0 at Heanor Town in a tight game that was won in the 88th minute with a goal by Tim Taylor.
Blake Freeman and Josh Batty got two each as Winterton Rangers defeated basement side Lincoln Moorlands Railway at West Street whilst Nostell Miners Welfare dropped into the bottom two in place of Winterton as a Matthew Bugg hat-trick saw them lose 3-2 at home to Liversedge.
Retford United snatched three points with an injury-time winner from Liam Wilkin to beat visitors Armthorpe Welfare, 3-2, whilst Thackley won 2-0 at Parkgate to move above their opponents into seventh place and Arnold Town drew 2-2 at Glasshoughton Welfare.
Division One leaders Athersley Recreation are now four points clear after they left it late to pick up a win at Teversal, Kieron Scargill with the only goal of the game in the second minute of stoppage time.
Louth Town stay second despite only picking up a point in a 1-1 draw at Worsbrough Bridge Athletic, Adam Podmore's second-half goal for the home side cancelling out an early opener from Callum Hyland for Louth.
Two goals from Lee Stephenson ensured a 3-2 win for Cleethorpes Town at Yorkshire Amateur and they go up into third spot.
AFC Emley and Grimsby Borough move up to fifth and sixth, respectively, after comfortable victories.
Emley won 3-0 at Rossington Main with goals from Ashley Flynn, Levi Maturine and Anthony Haigh whilst Borough were 4-0 victors at home to Askern Villa with two goals from Jake Thompson putting them on the way to three points.
They both go above Shirebrook Town who let a two-goal lead slip at Hallam to draw 2-2.
Pontefract Collieries were 1-0 winners at Eccleshill United whilst Knaresborough Town beat visitors Albion Sports by the same scoreline and Dinnington Town won 4-2 at home to Selby Town.
And, bottom side Appleby Frodingham made it three games unbeaten but needed an 89th minute penalty from Thomas Spall, his second spot-kick of the afternoon, to claim a 3-3 home draw with Hemsworth Miners Welfare.
Clipstone Welfare, meanwhile, are through to the Second Round of the Notts Senior Cup as Will Tomlinson and Jamie Tryner struck in a 2-0 victory at Ruddington.
