Baris NCEL 2012/13 Match Review #18
4th October, 2012
Bridlington Town's 7-0 win at Hall Road Rangers on Wednesday night has moved the Seasiders to the top of the Baris NCEL Premier Division.
They are now ahead of their tenants, Scarborough Athletic, on goal difference after the hefty victory which included hat-tricks for Craig Hogg and Josh Greening.
Scarborough had gone top for 24 hours after their 1-0 home win over Parkgate on Tuesday night, Ryan Blott's 63rd minute penalty separating the sides.
Previous leaders Worksop Parramore are now third as they were held to a 1-1 draw by visitors Nostell Miners Welfare, Lee Holmes rescuing a point for the hosts in the second half after James Eyles' 33rd minute opener for their opponents.
Long Eaton United are up into fifth following their 6-1 victory at home to Glasshoughton Welfare, their biggest victory at Grange Park in three years.
A James Beaston own goal on 16 minutes started things off and Shaun Rickford doubled their advantage soon after before Andrew Fieldhouse pulled one back for Glasshoughton just prior to half-time.
However, the second half belonged completely to the home side with Kial Thurman, Rickford again, Jack Davies and Elliott King making it a comfortable night.
Two goals from Nathan Benger helped Heanor Town to a 3-2 home victory over Maltby Main whilst Pickering Town went down 2-1 at Staveley Miners Welfare.
Clipstone Welfare missed out on a chance to go back top of Division One as they went down 2-1 at AFC Emley, Gavin King's penalty for them sandwiched by strikes from Ashley Flynn and Anthony Haigh for the hosts.
Teversal drop to sixth as John Waugh's goal on the half-hour mark condemned them to a 1-0 defeat at Grimsby Borough.
Near neighbours Shirebrook Town moved above them into fifth with their fifth straight league win, 3-2, at home to Worsbrough Bridge Athletic.
Elsewhere, it was County Cup action with nine ties scheduled in the West Riding County Cup involving NCEL sides and three in the Lincolnshire Senior Trophy.
Albion Sports and Liversedge both picked up impressive victories away at higher ranked opposition.
Alex Cusack, Adam Jones, Asif Hussain and Daniel Facey scored for Sports in a 4-1 win at Farsley AFC whilst Liversedge progressed with a 5-3 victory at Garforth Town, Luke Richardson with a hat-trick before Jarrod Peltier's goal and a Danny Toronczak penalty secured them a fine win in extra-time.
In two all-NCEL ties, two goals from Seb Carole helped Knaresborough Town to a 3-2 home win over Brighouse Town whilst Tadcaster Albion came from behind to beat hosts Thackley 2-1, Ryan Williams with the winner two minutes from time.
Armthorpe Welfare, Pontefract Collieries, Selby Town and Yorkshire Amateur all bowed out of the competition whilst Askern Villa were unable to raise a side for their game at Silsden.
All three Lincolnshire Senior Trophy ties were all-NCEL affairs with the biggest surprise being Division One basement side Appleby Frodingham's 3-0 win at Premier Division Winterton Rangers.
Oliver Bradbury put them ahead after 25 minutes before Thomas Spall and Paul Tait made sure of the victory after the interval.
Barton Town Old Boys were 5-2 winners at Louth Town whilst Bottesford Town went through courtesy of a penalty shoot-out, after their match with visitors Lincoln Moorlands Railway ended 2-2.
