Baris NCEL 2012/13 Match Review #14
20th September, 2012
Bridlington Town have moved up into the top three of the Baris NCEL Premier Division, one point behind leaders Worksop Parramore who lost in their midweek match.
The Seasiders closed the gap with a 2-1 victory at home to Brighouse Town on Tuesday night, Carl Stewart opening the scoring for them in the 37th minute before Ernest Boafa levelled the match in first half stoppage time.
Chris Batchelor then struck what proved to be the winner midway through the second period.
Parramore, meanwhile, were beaten by the same scoreline on the same night by visitors Tadcaster Albion.
Lee Whittington had given them an early second half lead but the game turned completely on its head in the last five minutes.
Paul Sykes' own goal restored parity and Terry Taylor snatched a dramatic injury time winner for the Brewers who are now ninth in the table.
In Division One on Tuesday, Hemsworth Miners Welfare were 4-0 winners at home to struggling Selby Town, Jack Wakefield's opening period goal added to after the interval by Will Kemp, Robbie Crapper and Neil Towler.
Craig Goodyear's 53rd minute strike was enough for Worsbrough Bridge Athletic as they prevailed 1-0 at home to AFC Emley.
On Wednesday night, Albion Sports climbed nine places to fifth following their 4-0 home victory over Cleethorpes Town.
Karl Hall claimed two of the goals whilst Adam Jones and Temour Khan also got on the scoresheet.
And, Louth Town moved up into second, one point behind Athersley Recreation, after a 4-2 win at home to Pontefract Collieries.
Matt Kennedy and Callum Hyland gave them a 2-0 lead by the break before James McDaid pulled one back for the away side.
Andrew Willoughby restored their two goal advantage but Bradley Thompson's strike for Ponte threatened a thrilling finale.
However, Jack Wightwick put the game to bed with Louth's fourth on 82 minutes.
