Baris NCEL 2012/13 Match Review #6
23rd August, 2012
Scarborough Athletic stormed to the top of the Baris NCEL Premier Division as they comfortably beat the side propping up the table, Lincoln Moorlands Railway.
And, a depleted Railway squad had their goalkeeper Craig Turner to thank from preventing the scoreline from being even more one-sided.
Robert Hawkes, Ryan Blott and Tony Hackworth gave the Seadogs a three-goal cushion by the interval before Blott got his second and Joel Ramm also got on the scoresheet to secure a 5-0 victory.
Railway, meanwhile, are still looking for their first point and first goal of the new league campaign.
Scarborough go above Worksop Parramore on goal difference after the Parras won a dramatic match at home to Arnold Town.
It was the visitors who held the lead at half-time despite Jordan Hatton opening the scoring for Parramore on nine minutes as Aaron Large struck twice to give the Eagles a 2-1 advantage.
Hatton struck again and William McGhie found the net to put the home side 3-2 up on the hour mark before Arnold took the lead again with goals from Matthew Baxter and Ricky Law.
But, Parramore turned the game on its head once again with a Jamie Smith double in the last five minutes to win 5-4.
Parkgate are up to third after a 4-2 home win over Tadcaster Albion, Luke Fletcher, Nathan Forbes-Swindells, Joel Purkiss and Keir Hannity with their goals before the Brewers threatened a comeback with late goals from Callum Ward and Nick Thompson.
The Rotherham based side went above Long Eaton United who were beaten by an 85th-minute Danny Frost goal at home to Retford United, with the Badgers moving up into fifth spot.
Liversedge's 100% record came to an end as a Joe Lumsden brace helped visitors Armthorpe Welfare to a 3-1 victory.
Maltby Main are still searching for their first point as they went down 2-1 at Thackley despite Craig Laight giving them a second minute lead.
Laight, however, put through his own net to make it level at the break and Mark Bett claimed the points with a strike on 58 minutes.
Winterton Rangers were 2-1 winners at Heanor Town whilst Nostell Miners Welfare and Brighouse Town picked up a point each in a 1-1 draw.
There were two draws on Wednesday with Danny Brunton securing a point for Barton Town Old Boys who had their goalkeeper sent off in the twelfth minute in a 2-2 stalemate with Staveley Miners Welfare.
Hall Road Rangers and Glasshoughton Welfare both got off the mark for the season with a 1-1 draw at Dene Park.
New boys Clipstone Welfare now lead the Division One standings after a 3-2 win at Eccleshill United.
They trailed to a Charlie Flaherty strike at half-time but Gavin King and Steve Owens put them 2-1 up going into the last quarter-of-an-hour.
Clifford Lyle restored parity but the visitors got the winner with two minutes remaining through Brandon Shaw.
Albion Sports have moved up to eighth after a 4-0 win at Shirebrook Town, with Karl Hall breaking the deadlock before halftime and Joshua Cooke, Asif Hussain and Lee Maturine made sure of the points in the second period.
