League line-ups announced by the FA
15th May, 2023
The FA have confirmed the National League System (NLS) club allocations for Steps 1 to 6 for the 2023/24 season, including the Toolstation NCEL Premier Division and Division One, subject to FA Council ratification.
In the Premier Division, we say farewell to champions North Ferriby and play-off winners Winterton Rangers who both make the move up to the Pitching In Northern Premier League and we wish them both well at their new level.
And, we welcome back Tadcaster Albion who return from Step 4 and Pickering Town who have moved across from the Northern League whilst Division One champions Campion and play-off winners Rossington Main are promoted to keep the number of teams at 20.
The FA have ruled that Hemsworth Miners Welfare's place in the Premier Division is subject to terms being met by the club with regards to ground issues.
Division One, meanwhile, expands to 24 teams with no sides being relegated.
Hall Road Rangers, who resigned from the competition after last year's AGM but before the start of the season, were considered to be the bottom-placed side.
Athersley Recreation who, as a result were next-to-bottom, receive a reprieve with the two sides above them, Swallownest and Shirebrook Town, also confirmed as remaining in the division.
Yorkshire Amateur have come down from the Premier Division and they will be joined by Goole AFC, subject to the Hemsworth Miners Welfare situation.
Four teams have been promoted from the Feeder Leagues with a welcome return for Louth Town from the Lincolnshire League and for Retford United from the Central Midlands League.
Meanwhile, Clay Cross Town and Wombwell Town become new faces in the NCEL from the Central Midlands League and Sheffield & Hallamshire County Senior League, respectively, and we look forward to those two sides coming in to the competition for the first time.
