Seasiders Vase clash to be played behind closed doors
30th October, 2020
Bridlington Town have announced that their Buildbase FA Vase First Round tie with North Shields on Saturday will now be played behind closed doors.
A statement released by the Seasiders said: "With East Yorkshire moving into Tier 2 COVID-19 restrictions at 12:01pm on Saturday, Bridlington Town have been in dialogue with the East Riding of Yorkshire Council for most of the day.
"And, we were informed at 5:22pm that the council were not allowing the club to admit paying spectators into the Hudgell Solicitors Stadium for the Buildbase FA Vase first round tie against North Shields.
"The game will therefore be played behind closed doors with only club officials allowed into the ground to watch the game.
"Those that have purchased tickets will be offered a full refund.
"Bridlington Town contacted the FA but were informed that it was up to the local authority to determine if spectators were allowed or not.
"The game is being streamed live as pay-per-view and details can be found on the club's website and social media sites.
"The clubhouse has been fully booked for a week and only those that have booked will be admitted.
"There is no view of the pitch from the clubhouse."
