Carmody and Jackson leave Welfare
22nd October, 2020
Following Wednesday night’s heavy defeat at Parkgate, manager Mike Carmody and his assistant Alan Jackson both resigned from their positions at Armthorpe Welfare.
The 6-1 loss sees Welfare drop into the bottom three of the early Toolstation NCEL Division One table with four points from their opening seven games.
A club statement read: "With early season results not being as hoped for, the pair decided they have taken the club as far as they can and that a change is best for all concerned.
"The committee at Armthorpe Welfare wish to place on record our thanks to both Mike and Alan for all their hard work during their tenure, with both also doing unseen work helping to improve the club behind the scenes. We also wish them both all the very best in the future.
"Mike took over as manager in September 2016 and had been in charge for 164 matches, whilst Alan initially joined as a player just over a year later and joined the management team in August 2018.
"Armthorpe Welfare will now begin the search for a new manager with more details being available in a separate news item which will be published later.
"In the meantime, chairman Steve Baskerville and senior players Reece Lucas and Adam Lee will look after team affairs."
