Railway Get Ready for Birthday
24th April, 2009
Lincoln Moorlands Railway will be celebrating its twentieth anniversary in the summer.
In 1989, a group of people including Stan Dye who would become manager and is now secretary, approached the Moorlands Social Club and suggested the idea of starting up a football team.
It was agreed and the rest is history with the club maintaining its KoolSport NCEL Premier Division status this season.
They are now managed by Darren Dye who was in his father's team twenty years ago.
To honour the club's achievements, a special charity match is to take place at the Moorlands Sports Ground on Saturday 30th May.
It will kick off at 11am and will be followed by a barbecue and a screening of the FA Cup Final.
The club's main sponsors, Stamp-End Motors, are also providing big prizes for a raffle.
The day will be rounded off with a presentation to all the current players at the club and all the funds raised on the day will go towards the team's new changing rooms and to improve the main and junior pitches.
Railway would like as many people who were involved with the club in 1989 to be at the special day.
Those who fit the bill are asked to contact Stan on 01522 808467, 07763 330526 or by email stanleymalcolm.dye@ntlworld.com.
