Staveley Miners Welfare midfielder Aymen Tahar has left Inkersall Road to pursue a professional career in Eastern Europe.Tahar, who has been a massive influence on the club's success in the Baris NCEL Premier Division and the FA Vase, has been on trial in Antalya in Turkey for a Romanian First Division side, CS Gaz Metan Medias.
They have since offered him a contract which he has accepted and signed and Tahar has now flown out to Romania to begin his career there.
Staveley will miss the midfielder who netted twenty goals last season and, even though he hasn't scored as frequently in this campaign, no-one doubts his on-the-ball ability and he goes with the club's blessing.
As one door closes, however, another one opens with goalkeeper Ian Deakin returning to the club after a short spell at Blue Square Bet North club Eastwood Town.
Meanwhile, Staveley raised over ?3,000 at their first-ever sporting dinner held in the clubhouse at the Inkersall Road ground last week.
The event, which featured former Nottingham Forest star Kenny Burns as speaker and comedy from Billy Flywheel, was a sell-out with over 100 people attending.
"The dinner was a huge success and we hope it is the first of many," said Staveley chairman Terry Damms.
"The funds raised will help pay for the development of our ground.
"Plans are in place for a new 250-seater south stand and improved changing room and wash room facilities."
