It is with deep sadness that members of Nostell Miners Welfare Football Club have learned of the passing on Friday of their friend, colleague and former stalwart committee member Roger Horsfall following a long illness.

A member of the club committee for about 15 years, Roger was involved in some of the most important moments in the club's history.

A statement from the Baris NCEL Premier Division club said : "On behalf of the club we would like to take this opportunity to offer our most sincere and heartfelt sympathy and condolences to all of the family and countless friends for their immense loss.

"The former club treasurer will be sadly missed by all at the club and our condolences go to his family.

"Roger's funeral will be held at Crofton Church, Crofton, Wakefield on Friday 9th December at a time to be advised."
