Awards Galore for Record-Breaker Coy
10th June, 2009
Record-breaking striker Chris Coy almost swept the board at Thackley's end of season awards ceremony.
He picked up three of the five first-team accolades and also being presented with a special prize.
Coy equalled the previous club record league goal tally with two games of last season remaining. He then broke it in the penultimate fixture and set a new total by bagging a hat-trick in the 9-0 thrashing of Eccleshill United on the last day of the campaign.
The previous best was Stuart Taylor's 32 goals and had stood for 15 years.
Coy scored four more and his total of 41 in all Northern Counties East League competitions in the season saw him presented with a special award in recognition of his remarkable feat.
Coy, who has taken up an option in his contract and committed himself to another season with Thackley, was named Player of the Year by his team-mates.
He also won the vote from the club's management and obviously added the Top Scorer's Award.
Midfielder Andrew Fox was the Man of the Match Award winner, while Martin Brissett was named the committee's Player of the Year.
