Robins Break-In Anger

17th October, 2008

Selby Town's joy at a midweek Premier Division win at Armthorpe Welfare was destroyed by a break-in at their ground.

It is believed that burglars got into the Selby Times Stadium sometime during Tuesday night and Wednesday morning.

Kits were strewn all over the clubhouse along with paperwork from the office files.

The bar door was smashed in and the till had been rifled whilst bottles of spirits, the TV Digibox, the pay phone, the petty cash box and even the charity collection box were taken.

Secretary Thomas Arkley said: "It is soul destroying for the committee - so much so, that some are wondering why we bother.

"The culprits obviously knew there wouldn't be anyone at the ground that evening.

"The police have dusted for prints etc. but the chances of catching the culprits are not good.

"But, we now face some extra cost of repairing the damage and making the place even more secure."
