Tevie Stalwart Picks Up Two Awards

20th June, 2011

One of Teversal's hard-working volunteers had a double celebration at the weekend when he picked up two awards at the Nottinghamshire FA end-of-season evening.

The Baris NCEL Division One side had two nominees for the evening in the FA Community Awards section.

Keith Parnill, who does many duties for the club including youth secretary and webmaster, was nominated for Volunteer Of The Year whilst Kevin Newton, who is the football secretary but also has many other roles, was short-listed for the Outstanding Contributions to Grassroots Football category.

Keith not only won his category but he was also issued with the East Midlands regional award, making it a very special night for the Tevie stalwart.

He is a man of few words, but was delighted when he stated: "It was an honour and surprise to pick these two awards up."

An example on Keith's dedication was seen the morning after collecting the awards when he was back down at Teversal's Carnarvon Street ground doing some painting, before travelling to Nottingham to collect additional trophies for the successful youth teams.

Kevin received a certificate of honour for his nomination, with him stating: "To be on a nomination list with the people nominated is a pure honour and the whole evening makes you realise how lucky we are in this county with the amount of effort put in to running football."

The awards evening, sponsored by Sportsguard and Replay Maintenance, was held on Friday night at the Village Hotel in Chilwell.

The event is held to recognise and reward the achievements, dedication and efforts of people who have made an important contribution to football in Nottinghamshire during the last twelve months.

All the nominees have been nominated by their peers, colleagues and friend, who have witnessed the contribution made by these people and who wish for them to be recognised for their efforts.
