Baris NCEL Review - Season 2011/12 #20
1st December, 2011
A James Ghaichem goal three minutes from time saw Scarborough Athletic move to the top of the Baris NCEL Premier Division table in midweek.
Their home clash with fellow title hopefuls Tadcaster Albion had looked to be ending in a draw after Ryan Blott had cancelled out a 48th minute opener.
But, the late winner means the Seadogs are now one point ahead of the side who they replace at the summit, their landlords Bridlington Town.
Staveley Miners Welfare lost some ground in their chase for top spot as they were beaten 2-1 at Winterton Rangers, Gavin Cooper and Robert Sanderson putting the hosts in command by the half-hour before a 75th minute consolation from Joe Thornton.
The Inkersall Road side stay sixth, seven points off the pace.
In Division One, Hallam snatched all three points at home to Rossington Main, Jonathan Bownes grabbing the winner in the 88th minute for a 3-2 victory.
Barton Town Old Boys and Pontefract Collieries joined Winterton in the last four of the President's Cup.
Two goals from Scott Phillips, sandwiching an Ashley Lattimore strike, helped Barton to a 3-1 home win over Bridlington.
And, James McDaid netted in the 27th minute in the Colls' single goal victory at Handsworth.
Only one Baris NCEL side progressed in the five West Riding County Cup Second Round matches that were played.
David Buck's 85th minute winner saw Armthorpe Welfare through at home to league rivals, Askern Villa.
The others fell to higher ranked opposition with Liversedge losing at Garforth Town, Glasshoughton Welfare beaten at home by Bradford Park Avenue, Eccleshill United going down to visitors Farsley AFC and Brighouse Town defeated by FC Halifax Town.
