18th August, 2011
Focus turned mainly onto the Baris NCEL cup competitions in midweek with ties being played in the League Cup and Wilkinson Sword Trophy.
There were three First Round matches in the League Cup with the most remarkable match taking place at Oxford Street where Rossington Main were 7-4 winners at home to Glasshoughton Welfare.
William McGhie, Liam Charlton and Lewis Wilton all struck twice for the hosts whilst Darrell Young hit a hat-trick for Welfare but ended up being on the losing team.
Goals from Brian Cusworth and Scott Bates saw Handsworth progress 2-0 at home to Pontefract Collieries whilst Shirebrook Town beat visitors Dinnington Town 3-0.
All their goals came in the second period from Steven McGurk, Carl Haslam and Daniel McLane.
There were also six Second Round ties with the biggest shock being Bottesford Town's 2-1 win at home to Scarborough Athletic.
The Division One side beat their Premier Division visitors with goals from Lee Bognar after Joe Naylor had given the Seadogs a 52nd minute lead.
Aymen Tahar's injury-time strike saw Staveley Miners Welfare through by a single goal at Liversedge whilst a Matthew Jackson brace helped Nostell Miners Welfare to a 5-2 victory at home to Armthorpe Welfare.
All four goals in Retford United's 3-1 victory at Tadcaster Albion came in an eleven minute second half spell.
Barry Payne put the Badgers ahead before the equaliser from Carl Stewart but Oliver Chappell and Jamie Brown made sure that it was Retford who went through.
Winterton Rangers beat Arnold 2-1 in extra time, Joe Leesley with the vital strike in the 109th minute, whilst Selby Town won 7-6 on penalties at Lincoln Moorlands Railway after it had finished 0-0 after two hours of football.
There were comfortable home wins in the two Wilkinson Sword Trophy First Round games that were played.
Grimsby Borough progressed with a 4-0 victory at the expense of Yorkshire Amateur and a Danny Stevens hat-trick, with two from the penalty spot, saw Louth Town through 5-1 against Worksop Parramore.
In the Premier Division, Long Eaton United picked up their first win by beating visitors Barton Town Old Boys, 3-1.
Gareth Barlow had put the away side ahead on 26 minutes but a Shaun Rickford brace had the hosts in front by the interval and Michael Armstrong struck the killer blow with a quarter-of-an-hour remaining in the game.
A Ben Hardy penalty in the 88th minute helped Thackley snatch a 1-1 draw at home to Maltby Main after Jonathan Wragg had given their opponents a first half advantage.
And, in Division One, Hemsworth Miners Welfare won 2-0 against visitors Hallam with Tony Morris and Ross Haywood getting on the scoresheet whilst it was a comfortable Wednesday night for AFC Emley as they won 4-0 at Appleby Frodingham.
