NCEL Match Review #36
12th December, 2008
Arnold Town and Pickering Town bowed out of the FA Vase in midweek.
It means Scarborough Athletic will be the sole KoolSport NCEL representatives in the Fourth Round in January.
Arnold were beaten 2-0 at home by Market Drayton Town whose goals came in the last ten minutes.
And, Pickering Town missed a penalty and hit the woodwork three times in a 7-0 defeat at Marske United.
Armthorpe Welfare were the giant-killers in the Second Round of the West Riding County Cup as they won 2-0 at Harrogate Town.
Gary Jones and Henry Sibenge struck in the second period to progress.
But, Liversedge were knocked out 4-3 at home to Garforth Town after they led 3-1 at the interval.
Kieran Corley, Craig Sugden and Nicky Boshell had put them into a great position before Garforth fought back into the game and Dominic Blair struck their winner on 86 minutes.
Scarborough Athletic returned to the top of Division One with a 6-1 home win over Appleby Frodingham ? their third successive victory by that scoreline in all competitions.
Ryan Blott, Mark Griffin and Daniel Gray had them three-up after just over a quarter-of-an-hour.
That's how it stayed until the 65th minute when the Seadogs hit another three in nine minutes from Richard Medcalf, Gary Hepples and Craig Hogg.
Caine Mawer got a consolation for the visitors with eight minutes remaining.
And, Leeds Carnegie cemented eighth place with a 6-2 victory at home to bottom side, Glasshoughton Welfare, on Monday night.
Tom Leaver grabbed a brace whilst Chris Thackery, Kyle Hawthorne, Luke Wildman and Jay Elliott also got on the scoresheet for Carnegie and Scott Greenwood hit both of Welfare's goals.
Then, on Wednesday, Carnegie were beaten 4-0 at Loughborough University in BUCS Premier League North.
