Clubs Prepare for League Opposition
30th June, 2011
Three Baris NCEL clubs are getting ready to face Football League opposition at the start of next month as they prepare for the new campaign.
Details of Armthorpe Welfare's pre-season friendly against Doncaster Rovers have now been finalised with the game being billed as a testimonial match for their manager Des Bennett who will be entering his thirteenth year as manager of the club.
It takes place on Thursday 7th July with gates opening at 5:15pm for what should be a fantastic night.
Doncaster Rovers are continuing their support for local football by bringing their first team squad for the game, giving fans an excellent chance to see the Championship club up close and any new signings that may have been made before the game.
Prior to the testimonial match, a team of Rovers Legends will take to the field to play a shorter 30 minute game against a team made up of the general public who have donated money to the club to secure their place on the field.
The Legends team is as follows: Mark Samways, Billy Russell, Glyn Snodin, Ian Snodin, Russ Wilcox, Colin Douglas, Daryl Pugh, Steve Gaughan, Mark Rankine, Des Bennett, Scott Maxfield, Steve Beaglehole, John Stiles, Tim Ryan.
