Former NCEL Boss Ready for Return
9th May, 2009
A former Northern Counties East League boss has issued a come-and-get-me plea as he looks to return after two years away from the game.
Eugene Lacy says he is keen on a return to the League that he left following his resignation from Liversedge in December 2006.
It brought to an end a four year stay for him at the Clayborn Ground where he got the club to the Fourth Qualifying Round of the FA Cup and lifted the League Cup.
The club also finished second in the Premier Division in the 2005/06 season but were overlooked for promotion due to ground issues with third-placed Harrogate Railway going up instead.
Speaking to the KoolSport NCEL website, Lacy said: "After a couple of seasons out of the game, I am looking to get back into management.
"My assistant/coach, Kym Farrand, has been pestering me to get another job since we quit Liversedge.
"It's not something you just do but, after the disappointment of not being promoted with Buxton due to the ground not being up to scratch, it is now something we feel we are ready for.
"The season we did not go up should have been the season we quit, but foolishly we believed all we heard and stayed on.
"I do want to get back into the game and hopefully recreate the side and togetherness we had at Sedge, but this time with someone who is ambitious enough to go along with us.
"With the contacts I have in the game both on and off the field, coupled with a chairman that shares our targets, goals and aspirations, who knows."
