NCEL Officials Joy at FA Cup Final

23rd April, 2009

Three of the four officials appointed for this year's FA Cup Final were once amongst the NCEL's ranks of referees and linesmen.

Howard Webb will be the man-in-the-middle for the showpiece at Wembley Stadium between Chelsea and Everton whilst David Richardson will be one of his assistants and Martin Atkinson will be fourth official.

The trio all cut their teeth in our League and we are delighted that they have been honoured in this way.

The success follows the news that both Semi-Finals were refereed by former NCEL officials.

Atkinson was in charge of the Arsenal v Chelsea clash whilst Mike Riley took control of the game between Everton and Manchester United.

League Vice President Ron Skidmore, who assessed Webb and Riley when they were teenagers, says the NCEL is "very proud" of all five's achievements.
