Johnson Returns To Shirebrook

29th September, 2006

Two months after leaving Shirebrook Town to join neighbours Glapwell, striker Simon Johnson is back at Langwith Road.

He's returned after falling out of favour at Hall Corner.

Shirebrook hope he can help turn around their fortunes as a nightmare start to the season has left them bottom of the Premier Division.

And, he's set to be named in tomorrow's home game with Pickering Town as boss Graham Charlesworth struggles with an injury-ravaged squad.

Meanwhile, Shirebrook have also secured the services of former Notts County junior and ex-Sutton Town left-back Brett Jones.

Date Switch For Cup Tie

10th September, 2006

Shirebrook Town's FA Cup First Round Qualifying tie at Romulus FC has been put back 24 hours.

It will now take place at Cole Lane on Sunday the 17th of September, kick-off 3pm.

This is because they share the ground with Sutton Coldfield Town who also have a home FA Cup tie against Newcastle Town.

Bray Signs For Shirebrook

19th July, 2006

Shirebrook Town have made a significant capture in former Sheffield striker Duncan Bray.

The prolific goalscorer returned to Sheffield last year after a season of Unibond football with Stocksbridge Park Steels, and had previously played for Barnsley, Emley and Ossett Albion.

Bray's signing looks to be a real coup for the ambitious club, and should be the ideal replacement for the departing Simon Johnson, who signed up with neighbours Glapwell last week.

The Barnsley-based striker has also brought along with him busy midfielder Craig Robinson, who was with Gateshead in the UniBond League last season.

And a further boost for the Langwith Road faithful is the return to the fold of Justin Burdett, who had a brief flirtation with Sutton Town last season, while defender Chris Wall is also back after a year in America.

Joint manager Graham Charlesworth told Chad: "With Robinson in and Burdett back to line up alongside Adie Carter we will have a really good 'engine room', which is what we need at this level of football."

Former Stags youngster Dave Middleton has also joined after having a spell at Glapwell last year.
