Pitch Renovation Gets Player Praises

3rd August, 2006

Last Saturday saw the first game on Garforth Town's newly renovated pitch.

Head Groundsman Rich Cale and a team of volunteers at the Club have spent the summer getting the pitch ready for the new season.

Over ?5,000 has been spent on the rotivation of compacted areas, new top-soil, re-seeding of the whole pitch, specialist feeding, new goals, nets and much more.

Club Captain Brett Renshaw commented after the team's match against Ossett Town: "The pitch is looking in great condition.

"Considering the lack of rain this summer and the poor condition the pitch ended up in at the back end of last season, Richard and the team have worked miracles."

Newly-appointed General Manager Chris Sharman said: "A big focus for me and the team when I came in to post was the pitch.

"With Simon's desire to play quality football and gain promotion this season, we had to make sure there was good investment in the pitch to ensure the team can play attractive and flowing football as the fans both deserve and expect."
