Stacey Quits Long Eaton

27th July, 2005

Glyn Stacey has quit as manager of Long Eaton United.

"I walked before I was pushed," said Stacey. "My job was becoming impossible. It had been coming, but it came to a head and I walked out.

"I enjoyed it there and I'm a bit gutted. We've had two promotions in three years and we had a good side.

"I'd signed 14 of last season's players who had all agreed to take a pay cut.

"I was hopeful of signing two more and was in talks with five or six others."

Now Stacey is looking forward to a rest.

"I'm looking forward to a less stressful time, but if someone wants me to manage them they can give me a call."

Long Eaton chairman and secretary Jim Fairley said: "He's taken us up two divisions and put us in a good position, but it was probably time for him to move on."

Fairley added that the club are looking for a new manager and would also like to hear from anyone who wants to take on the role of club secretary.

Anyone interested in either position can write to: Long Eaton United FC, c/o 13 Redland Drive, Chilwell, Nottingham, NG9 5JZ.
