Eagles Squad Building Continues

7th June, 2006

New Arnold Town Manager Andy Muldoon has further strengthened his squad by securing the services of a number of key players.

Striker Kevin Mabon has agreed to remain with the Eagles after enjoying a successful season following his move from Long Eaton.

Mabon netted 18 times and was a real crowd favourite picking up the runner up trophy in the supporter's player of the year awards.

The club have taken up the option to retain current contracted players David Wilkins and Chris Hall.

Hall broke into the first team squad last term having progressed through the youth set up.

Top scorer Wilkins had by far his most prolific season, forming an excellent partnership with Mabon.

The club have installed Chris Peet as club captain and Chris Hudson as vice captain.

The pair played key roles last term forming a formidable defensive partnership.

The capture of Andy Davies and Tom Watson are also seen as key to the future of the club.

Davies has been a revelation during his two seasons with the club, whilst Watson has attracted the attention of a number of professional clubs.

Watson has shown great loyalty to Muldoon and he is seen as a big signing for the club in what could be a crucial season in the youngsters' development.

Muldoon spoke about his playing squad in glowing terms: "The players we have brought in could have gone elsewhere for more money.

"The fact that they have put the club before money speaks volumes about the attitude of these lads.

"The players are motivated by football and not their pay packet at the end of the week.

"Calvin (Plummer) and I want players with a desire to play football for Arnold Town and this we now have."

"We are only interested in players with the right attitude who will come to club on our financial terms.

"We are in discussions with two defenders, two quality midfielders and a striker.

"The coming days should see some quality additions to the squad and, with the crop of youngsters at the club added to the experience we have on board, the club is marching in the right direction."
