Blues More Appealing After Escape

2nd June, 2006

Craig Weston thinks Long Eaton United's "lucky escape" from relegation will help him prepare for next season.

The Blues will start the new campaign in the NCEL Premier Division, despite finishing second-from-bottom last term.

Long Eaton's reprieve comes because the geographical location of the teams relegated from the UniBond League Division One.

Player-manager Weston said: "We've had a lucky escape.

"I thought for a couple of weeks that we might get away with it and now it's been officially confirmed, we're obviously delighted.

"Of course it will help in attracting players.

"No player worth his salt doesn't want to play at as high a level as possible.

"I want to manage as high up as possible and I want players who are ambitious.

"Not being relegated means we're still only one level below the UniBond and will make it easier persuading people to join us."
