Hands Off Turner, Say Gedling

30th March, 2007

Gedling Town have had a second approach in the last six days from Buxton and Eastwood Town for former England under 19's star Matty Turner.

But, captain, James Jepson said: "Matty has decided to stay with us and we could not be happier.

"He is enjoying his football and got his 13th goal of the season at South Normanton Athletic last week.

"He has played at Nottingham Forest, West Bromwich Albion & two clubs in the Danish Premier division and this can only help the younger players around him."

In a further boost, Gedling Town have this week completed the signing of Martin Kearney from Stamford and Rick Ranshaw from Lincoln Moorlands.

Jepson said: "Kearns has played at Forest and Doncaster Rovers and is a great goalkeeper. He will give everybody a boost.

"Rick is a big, strong centre-forward with a great touch and an eye for goal. He is every centre-back's worst nightmare."

Jepson added: "Rennie is a top player and I hope to see him at Stoke Bardolph next season as he was a fan's favourite in his first spell with the club."

Rick and Martin will be unveiled to the Gedling fans and public at the Potcher's Pocket in Bilborough on the 2nd of April at 7pm.
