Pontefract Collieries are celebrating after being handed the title of best NCEL programme in this year's Non-League Programme Awards.

The competition, run by the Programme Monthly publication, put them on top with 290 points, seventeen ahead of the Premier Division's top scorers, Sheffield.

The Colls have won the Division One title for six successive seasons but this is the first time they?ve taken the accolade as the best in the league.

Rod Naylor, Ponte's programme editor, said: "It's great to keep doing so well, and especially good to at last get the best in the League spot.

"As well as the many compliments I get from fans who visit our ground, it's always great to get some official recognition.

"I am particularly pleased to have done that, especially as it looks like this might well be my last season. It's great to go out on a high.

"I only wish the club itself could rise to the heights as well. At the end of the day that's what's important."

So far, only the top three from each Division has been revealed but more detailed results will be announced by Programme Monthly in the coming months.
