New Gig For Gedling Keeper

25th February, 2007

Gedling Town shot-stopper Jon Fountain is set to show off another of his talents when his band supports Manchester indie band, the Stone Roses, on their comeback tour.

He is a part-time rock star as lead singer of Jonny Fountain And The Passbacks.

Captain James Jepson told the NCEL website: "Jonny is a close friend of mine and I've known about him and The Passbacks for some years but a few of the lads thought he was messing about.

"However, when he invited us to one of his gigs we saw just how good he is.

"Jonny has been friends with Roses frontman Ian Brown ever since they crossed paths in Mablethorpe whilst touring and stayed in contact ever since.

"With the Stone Roses making a comeback tour, Jonny and the Passbacks has been confirmed as their support band.

"This is really good news for Jonny and his band and we'll try and get them all to wear Gedling Town shirts."

Also in the group are Con Fitzgerald on drums, with Paul "Scully" Scullion and Don Flynn on guitar.
