Pontefract Collieries hope history can be repeated when they travel to face Halifax Town in the West Riding County Cup next Tuesday.

The Conference side are overwhelming favourites for the Second Round tie but it has emerged that Ponte have beaten Halifax on their own turf before.

It happened in the 1962/63 season when the Colls went to the Shay to play a Halifax 'A' side in the West Yorkshire League.

The game was the first ever played by Pontefract under floodlights and they ran out 4-2 winners having been two goals behind.
