Outgoing South Normanton Athletic manager Chris Nicholson said he felt "crowded" by the committee in the final few months of his time at the club.

Nicholson, who resigned from the Derbyshire side on Saturday, had been at Lees Lane for 18 months and steered the Shiners to a mid-table position last season.

"I had started to feel a bit crowded by the committee and was no longer enjoying it at South Normanton," said Nicholson

"I was told that the club weren't going to pay the players' expenses for the last game of the season and that's not on.

"I've been involved in football for around 16 years and you know it's time to leave when you no longer enjoy doing what you're doing.

"There are no hard feelings, however, and I wish South Normanton all the best for the future."
