Gedling Management Duo Quit

18th May, 2006

Joint-managers Jimmy Albans and Benny Harrod have left Gedling Town after two seasons because the club could not give them a budget.

The pair narrowly missed out on promotion to the Northern East Counties League Premier Division.

But Albans said: "We want to bring success to the club but we are limited if we have not got a budget to work with. We are gutted.

"I do not have a bad to word to say about the club and have enjoyed everything about the job.

"The chairman, Roly Ash, has backed us the past two seasons and I cannot fault him.

"But we have not been given a budget yet for this season and at this time we need to be planning.

"How can we sit down with players when we don't know what budget we have?

"We still see ourselves with a role to play in football management so we will have to see what comes up."

Ash said the club was waiting to hear from a potential investor before deciding on future plans. "We can't make any decisions or set a budget until we know what is happening and that should be in the next few days," he said.
