South Normanton Athletic produced the most spectacular victory of the weekend in the FA Vase as seven teams booked their place in the Second Round Proper.

They came from behind to beat Midland Alliance side Loughborough Dynamo 4-1 at Lees Lane.

The visitors went ahead early on through Ashley Warner but Valadmir Santos Farrell levelled matters before half-time.

Kevin Mabon put the Shiners in the lead after the break before Joe Atkinson and Damien Powell made it safe in the last ten minutes.

Another Midland Alliance side put to the sword were Friar Lane & Epworth who were beaten 4-0 on their own patch by Carlton Town.

Sheffield were made to battle but they squeezed through in a pulsating tie at North West Counties rivals Nelson, Chris White converting a last-minute penalty to send them through.

Three second-half goals from Garforth Town saw Simon Clifford's side progress at the expense of Silsden with Greg Kelly, Ian Twitchen and Duncan Williams finding the net at the Genex Healthcare Stadium.

In the only all-NCEL tie of the round, honours went to Winterton Rangers as they visited local rivals Hall Road Rangers and, for the second time in a month, won 2-1 at Dene Park.

Andy Holt opened the scoring for Winterton midway through the first half but the lead lasted just three minutes as Andy Jacklin equalised.

The last word, though, came from Mark Whitehouse on 69 minutes to send Peter Daniel's side through.

Glasshoughton Welfare avoided a potential upset as they eased through 3-1 at home to Northern Alliance outfit Easington Colliery.

Welfare's Ashley Brewer scored at both ends in the opening twenty minutes but Mark Linnekar and Alex Higgins calmed the nerves in the second half.

And, Gareth Hamlet's eleventh minute strike sealed victory for Liversedge at home to Norton & Stockton Ancients.

Joining those seven sides in Monday's draw are three other NCEL clubs, but they need replays to see if they will progress.

Parkgate are at home on Tuesday night to Trafford after a scintillating 3-3 draw but it could have been so much better as Parkgate raced into a 3-0 lead.

Richard Patterson, Brian Cusworth and Matt Outram had seemingly put the tie beyond the North West Counties side after 47 minutes, but the hosts got back into the game admirably.

Despite Karl Colley's extra-time strike for Retford United, they have to travel to Midland Combination outfit Bolehall Swifts on Tuesday after a 2-2 draw at Cannon Park.

Anthony Juxon rescued the Swifts in a game that Retford led in twice.

Earlier, Greg Wright's opener was cancelled out by Steve Smith.

Retford's replay means their Premier Division clash with Arnold Town scheduled for Tuesday will now be played at a later date.

A Richard Smith header two minutes from time saved Sutton Town's blushes at home to Brierley & Hagley.

Phil Bignall had opened the scoring on six minutes but that was quickly cancelled out by Richard Perry and the game went into extra-time.

Mark McLaren scored in the last minute of the opening period to put the West Midlands Premier ahead before Smith forced a replay on Wednesday night.

Elsewhere, Mickleover Sports fell to a 2-0 defeat at Barwell whilst Borrowash Victoria were overpowered 3-0 at home to Castle Vale and Dinnington Town could not upset the odds as they went down 4-0 at Congleton Town.

Lincoln Moorlands almost forced a replay at Ridgeons League outfit Thetford Town but they were beaten 3-2 in extra time, whilst Worsbrough Bridge lost 4-2 at home to Colne.

And, Eccleshill United bowed out of the competition, losing 3-0 to Northern League visitors Newcastle Blue Star.

Maltby Main, meanwhile, used a reduced Premier Division schedule to open up a three-point gap at the top of the table with a 3-2 victory at home to Armthorpe Welfare.

Adam Lee opened the scoring for the visitors after the half-hour mark before three goals in eleven minutes at the start of the second period put Maltby firmly in control.

Tommy Fletcher, Craig Mudd and Scott Somerville all found the net but Gary Jones made it a nailbiter as he added a second for Welfare with eight minutes remaining.

Moving up into second place are Pickering Town after two goals from Ricky Greening helped them to a 6-1 home annihilation of Brodsworth Welfare.

Hallam are now in the top eight after Gavin Hunter's 52nd minute goal saw off Shirebrook Town at Sandygate.

And, history looks to have been made in Glapwell's game at home to Selby Town.

Ian Brown, who moved to Glapwell from Hucknall Town in midweek, scored after just ten seconds to put his side ahead, surely the club's quickest ever goal scored by a debutant.

The Hall Corner outfit doubled their advantage with a Colin Cockerill penalty on 38 minutes and held on for a 2-0 win that saw them climb the table to eleventh.

Yorkshire Amateur are still bottom of Division One but they will be feeling a whole lot better after picking up their first win of the season.

Two from Ashley Beck, one each from Carl Ward and Richard Britten, and a penalty from Wayne Anderson saw them comfortably beat Teversal 5-0.

At the other end of the table, Nostell Miners Welfare have moved up to second with a 2-0 win at Staveley Miners Welfare thanks to goals from Ben Gilbert just before half-time and John Coppinger with nine minutes remaining.

Gedling Town won 3-2 at home to Tadcaster Albion to climb to fifth.

And, goals from John Forrest and Kevin Duckworth claimed a vital away victory for Pontefract Collieries at Rossington Main.
